Visuals establish what a place looks like. Audio tells the body how large it is, what is nearby, what is hidden, and whether the environment feels empty or occupied.
This is why a silent digital twin can look extraordinary and still feel unfinished. A machinery room without hum, a warehouse without reflections, or an exterior without distance cues remains visually present but spatially thin. Audio is not decoration added after rendering. It is part of how people understand space.
The UnrealTwin spatial-audio workflow was built directly into the browser editor so sound can be placed, heard, and debugged in the same environment where it will be experienced.

A room is not believable until sound changes as you move through it.

Sound propagation is difficult to author because the most important behavior cannot be seen. A source may be too loud at distance, an attenuation curve may drop too quickly, or an occlusion filter may activate in the wrong place. Listening alone makes those issues slow to diagnose.
The real-time heatmap gives the sound field a visual form. Designers can inspect where a source is strong, how it fades, and whether the intended area is being covered. That turns spatial audio from trial and error into something that can be directed with the same confidence as lighting or post-processing.
True 3D positioning lets sound respond to listener location, while configurable linear, inverse, and exponential attenuation models control how energy falls away. Occlusion filters—lowpass, highpass, and bandpass—help a source feel blocked or altered by the environment. Reverb and echo controls can distinguish a tight interior from a cavernous industrial hall.
In a digital twin, sound can identify operating equipment, indicate a hazardous zone, guide a visitor toward an event, or reveal activity beyond the current line of sight. In a property experience, it can support the character of a courtyard, water feature, or entertainment space. In an exhibition, narration and ambient beds can be anchored to the work rather than playing as a flat soundtrack.
Spatial audio makes the environment legible with the ears. It gives distance, obstruction, scale, and direction a second channel.
The important design choice is restraint. Every object does not need to make noise. Audio should reinforce the hierarchy of the scene rather than compete with it. The strongest sound field often contains deliberate silence, allowing key sources and transitions to carry more meaning.
UnrealTwin’s direction is to treat high-fidelity browser experiences as full sensory products. Gaussian Splats solve an extraordinary visual problem, but immersion does not end at the image. When sound reacts to movement and architecture, the scene begins to occupy the room around the viewer.
